                                                        Board Member - Dr. Houman Sadri

                                                        Dr. Houman A. Sadri is an associate professor of International Relations at UCF, which he joined in 1995.  Professor Sadri earned his doctorate degree from the University of Virginia (established by President Thomas Jefferson) and his post-doctorate at the Hoover Institution of the Stanford University. He is the author of several books. His books, Revolutionary States: Leaders & Foreign Relations (1997), Trends, Prospects, & Challenges of Globalization (2008), Global Security Watch—The Caucasus(2010), have received excellent book reviews.

                                                        Based on his US Fulbright grant experience, he also co-authored a forthcoming book titled Intercultural Communication: A New Approach to International Relations and Global Challenges(2011). Another upcoming book based on his grants and works with the US State Department is: The Caspian States in the 21st Century (2012). Moreover, Dr. Sadri is the author of numerous articles and book chapters. Sadri is a frequent presenter at academic and professional meetings. Last but not least, he serves as a consultant for the U.S. State Department, U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Energy, and other government agencies.

                                                        Regarding teaching, Dr. Sadri teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses, including International Relations, International Political Economy, International Organizations, U.S. Foreign Policy, Middle East Politics, and the Caspian Sea Politics. His teaching effectiveness, techniques, and style have earned him several teaching and training awards from UCF, American Political Science Association, The National Political Science Honor Society (Pi Sigma Alpha), Udmurt State University (Russian), Nile Foundation (Turkey), International Progress (Kuwait), and the Golden Key Honor Society to name a few.

                                                        Concerning research, his geographic area is the Middle East and the Caspian Sea, where he visits frequently. Dr. Sadri’s projects are funded by a variety of grants from the U.S. State Department, U.S. Fulbright Association, U.S. International Exchange Board (IREX), International Studies Association, American Political Science Association, Udmurt State University (Russia), UAE University (UAE), and Arab Research Center (Kuwait), to name a few. He is often interviewed by national and international media, from the ABC News Nightline program to Voice of America network, and from Australian National Radio to Turkish TV.  Thus, Professor Sadri serves as a consultant for both government and non-governmental agencies.

                                                        In terms of service activities, Dr. Sadri serves as the Associate Editor of a Middle East scientific journal. He also serves as the consultant to the Greater Orlando United Nations Association-USA Chapter (the local representative of the UN). Moreover, he is on the Executive Board of the International Council of Central Florida (the local representative of the U.S. State Department). Last but not least, Dr. Sadri is strongly involved with community organization; and he has served as a guest speaker for many community groups and organizations.
